What is Uncle Ron's Academy?

Uncle Ron’s Academy is a happy dynamically fluid crew who gather in various sized groups, committees, gatherings, celebrations enjoying visits with or just hanging around Uncle Ron.

Who is Uncle Ron? Uncle Ron is a "spirit". However, the Academy should say that it was a "aha" sort or moment when we realized that the "Ron" in Ron Carioca or Ron Zacapa Centenario was not a primero nombre but Rum! So when we gather it’s more of a family adventure valuing all those great things like life, love, learning. It is more than a night out on the town... So, we are Uncle Ron’s Academy....

This blog spot will feature all sorts of things like rum, music, feasts, literature, dancing, links to other rum sites, events, adventurers and one of the great causes we support: Los Primos Project

Golden Diamond.... Do you know what is in your walls?

Don Ron John is doing some renos in his house.... He came across this llittle jem in the Kitchen wall .. An empty mikey of Golden Diamond Rum. The fine print on the lable says: Licensed by Sandach Parker & Co. Ltd., Demerara British Guiana, McGuiness Maritimes Distillers Ltd. Bridgetown,  Nova Scotia D1 P2A.

What's really neat is the government issue warning lable that was still intact...... Be very very careful!!!! Heed This Warning and Save Paying a Penalty!!!!!
He figures it is circa 1964. The cost: $1.40.

  2. Now don't quote me on this (I'll check with Uncle Ron) what we called a "mickey" was a half pint. A pint we called a pint. But when we travelled to Upper Canada it seemed that a pint was a mickey. The volume on this bottle is 6 oz.

  3. I was just given a bottle of light golden diamond rum made in the same distillery in Bridgetown... and it still has the rum in it. the label is slightly different but i haven't removed the NSLC label that's covering it.
